This is an exciting new role as part of the Clinical Support & Family Services Division at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust to work alongside the Service Manager for Specialist Palliative Care, Child Health and Sexual Health to provide Business Manager support.

The successful candidate should be motivated to take on a new role that will require embedding new systems of working, developing good working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff to support the delivery of the role's key main duties.

The services in this portfolio provide great opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic Business Manager to develop their leadership, improvement and transformation skills whilst supporting with the day to day operational management of the services. Each specialty has fantastic team members to work alongside all with a willingness to make a positive impact on patient experience and outcomes.

Consideration would be given to someone who would suit a development opportunity working towards a Band 6 role with starting role at Band 5 with clear set of development objectives to work towards to meet the personal specification of the Band 6 role. Fixed term or secondment opportunities would also be considered.

Main duties of the job

To support the Service Manager for Specialist Palliative Care, Child Health and Sexual Health in the efficient and effective operational management of the services within the portfolio in order to deliver continually improving, high quality patient care.

The Business Manager will provide line management and support to the administrative teams within the portfolio, escalating any issues to the Service Manager as needed.

The Business Manager is expected to ensure a delivery of an efficient and effective administration including ensuring standard operating procedures are followed and that relevant performance targets are achieved.

The Business Manager has delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities, working autonomously using initiative and their specialist knowledge and experience of the services to make decisions.

The Business Manager leads the delivery of the quality operational business of the service areas as well as contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans and improvement programmes.

  • Operational management/business administration management experience in an acute healthcare setting
  • Supervisory experience of administrative staff
  • Trouble shooting of patient administration system/EPR systems and data quality issues
  • Knowledge of patient pathways and national operational performance standards
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
  • Understanding of primary care, GP and community services
  • Experience of implementing change
