The Mental Health division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust comprises of three directorates Adult Mental Health, Mental Health Services for Older People and Specialist Services. Main duties of the job
Nottinghamshire Perinatal Mental Health Team is a multidisciplinary, well-established service providing tailored approaches to meet the mental health needs of women and their families in the perinatal period.
Due to significant investment as part of the NHS Long Term Plan, we are delighted that we are now able to develop the psychological provision within this team.
In addition, we have also developed a Perinatal Trauma and Bereavement Service that is integrated within the existing provision. This service focuses on mental health difficulties associated with loss, trauma and tokophobia in the perinatal period.
We are keen to develop the services by offering both full time and part time permanent opportunities at both Band 8a and Band 7. For those interested in Band 7 positions we would encourage applications from those who are more recently qualified or about to qualify. For Band 7 applicants we are able to offer progression to Band 8A on completion of a portfolio of competencies.
Band 8a applicant should be able to demonstrate more extensive in work experience relevant to the post.

Perinatal Mental Health Services in Nottinghamshire is expanding. We are keen to recruit Clinical Psychologists who are passionate about the emotional wellbeing of women in the perinatal period and their infants. We are able to offer an 8a post if you have post-registration skills and experience of working in a similar field. If you are newly qualified or have very limited experience, we are able to offer a preceptorship post with agreed competencies to support you towards an 8a post.
You will have opportunity to undertake initial assessments and direct one to one and group based therapeutic work with women experiencing a wide range of mental health problems, often relating to complex trauma or attachment difficulties. You will also have opportunity for indirect working, offering supervision, consultation and training to both colleagues within the MDT, and the wider maternity system. The service is also seeking to develop psychological interventions across multiple pathways within and between services, and so you will be invited to contribute to innovative service design and improvement.
Specific banding requirements are within the attached documents for Band 7 or Band 8a applicants.
We are keen to recruit people who enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams and who are creative, adaptable and responsive to the needs of the service. - Experience of working with women and their families who have a range of complex mental health difficulties
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management which inform clinically competent assessments including mental state, risk and the development of a formulation of difficulties/problems.
- Experience of caseload management, including working with clients with a wide range of mental health difficulties
- Experience of developing and delivering specialist training packages regarding mental health and risk

- Good Honours degree in Psychology giving eligibility for Graduate membership of the BPS
- Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the B.P.S., and giving eligibility for membership of Health Care Professions Council HCPC
- The post holder must be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
