To work closely with Occupational Therapy colleagues to provide joint therapies assessments and treatment plans enabling efficient use of Therapies Team resources. To manage a caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision, managing attendance of board rounds and ward meetings to contribute significantly to patient flow.
To be a highly skilled in identifying pathways of patient care, discharge plans and suitable discharge locations.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and dedicated Physio onto our band 6 Physiotherapy rotation where you will be exposed to a variety of rotations and encouraged and supported to develop your knowledge and skills.
Core rotations include:
- Critical Care & Respiratory- Vascular & Surgery- Trauma & Orthopaedics- Stroke- Urgent Care & Frailty- Acute medicine- Elderly Medicine
With opportunities to gain exposure in Oncology and Amputee rehab. Professional Development is encouraged through the annual & rotational appraisals, supervision with the clinical lead of the specialist area and peer group meetings where you have an opportunity to learn from, and share your experiences with your band 6 OT and Physio peers.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of Physiotherapy within the acute adult Therapies team. This includes rotations across the service and site
To be an active member of the evening and weekend respiratory on call service.
To perform more advanced and detailed assessments of patients presenting with a wide range of complex conditions and comorbidities providing a diagnosis, plan and goals to develop, and to deliver an individualised treatment programme to medical patients.
Clinical support and access to advice and supervision available at all times from a senior therapist within the Therapies department.
Day to day management and supervision of ward/ therapy teams including Band 5 therapists and band 3 therapy support workers as well as Physiotherapy students
Undertake evidence based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice.
Support to band 7 and 8 Therapy colleagues in the day-to-day running of the acute adult therapies team including staff appraisals, clinical projects, benchmarking, teaching and service evaluation.
