Band 7 Clinical Lead Practitioner (General Surgery Theatres)
PLEASE NOTE: This is a fixed-term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
This is an ideal opportunity to expand your leadership and management skills and to join our dynamic theatre team.
Working alongside a Senior Band 7 you will be expected to work within your budget, maintaining safe staffing levels and skill mix, whilst providing excellent care for our patients.
You would be expected to maintain a presence in the clinical environment, working with team leaders to ensure the operating lists run smoothly and efficiently, as well as the managerial aspects of the role.
The successful candidate will need to exhibit high standards of practice and performance and be committed to ensuring compliance. You will need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills throughout the multidisciplinary team and be confident in decision making.
You will also display excellent leadership qualities to embrace our Trust CARE values, being an advocate for delivering outstanding care to our patients whilst meeting the priorities of both our patients and staff.
You will need to be an inspirational leader who has the passion to deliver high quality in all aspects of nursing care, and will need to be able to demonstrate transformational skills in order to drive improvements in both practice and learning.
Main duties of the job
Manage people and financial resources to ensure the effective operation of the team for which they are responsible. Ensure applicable skill-mix and appropriate caseload management at all times.
Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set criteria/competencies. Be responsible for ensuring individual performance review and personal development plans are completed for self and team members. Provide clear feedback to team in a way that is conductive to maintaining and improving performance. Work closely with Employee relations as appropriate.
Establish and maintain good two-way communication channels with Lead nurse, team members and all relevant stakeholders.
Be responsible for standard of nursing care delivered in work area. Display evidence that staff provide holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well maintained environment.

To be responsible for the management, clinical leadership and overseeing a team of professionally registered nurses and ODPs, HCAs and support staff within the clinical specialty.
The post holder will work to ensure the delivery of an excellent service to patients on a 24-hour basis.
The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including clinicians, support services and other speciality leads to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the lead nurse/practitioner and Matron for Theatres and Anaesthetics with continuous service improvements and initiatives. Working to ensure team engagement across all specialities.
The post holder will work to manage people and financial resources within the specialty to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
The post holder will work with the Directorate management to ensure delivery and compliance with key performance indicators and performance targets, whilst actively promoting the Trust values.
The post-holder displays excellent communication and leadership skills, and is responsible for the day-to-day line management of the team for which they are responsible.
