If this sounds like you, Hampshire CAMHS are seeking a range of multidisciplinary team members to develop a new and enhanced service for young people with a learning disability and/or Autism.

We are seeking a range of multi-disciplinary professionals. You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative team of nurses and mental health practitioners , dedicated to developing and providing a high-quality service which complements the work done by our wider CAMHS colleagues and in liaison/partnership with other key young people's services. Our core business is to assess and meet the mental health needs of children and young people with a learning disability and or Autism where specialist approach is required for complex presentations.

Main duties of the job

As a multi-disciplinary team member for the LD/A service you will provide specialist expertise to understand and support the complex mental health and behavioural needs of children and young people with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

You will work as an active member of a team, contributing expertise within your specialist area to develop the service and also providing clinical skills for assessment and interventions.

Contributing to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, you will provide consultation, specialist assessments, recommendations and interventions as appropriate to your role. , We follow a multi-disciplinary approach and as such you will provide specialist assessment and intervention with specific responsibilities within your specialist profession.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be a successful
  • Registered with the HCPC Applications are sought from Clinical Psychologists
  • Experienced in risk assessment and management
  • Experience in supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and varied role
  • Experienced working within a mental health setting

It would also be advantageous if you are:
  • Experienced working in CAMHS (Children and Young Peoples mental health services)
  • Dedicated to developing excellent services

Flexibility with working patterns to the needs of individuals and services. as is own transport as some of the roles involve travel across the whole of Hampshire. . SPFT staff have the capacity to work from home remotely where applicable and in agreement with your line manager.

Part-time hours can be considered Minimum 22.5 hrs per week.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To regularly support and cover the duty rota
  • To, provide specialist assessment and intervention as part of a multi-disciplinary approach, with specific responsibilities regarding the care pathway
  • To provide risk screening and assessment as well as risk management planning
  • To contribute to and facilitate evidence-based assessments and individual and group interventions
  • To contribute to development of the Service
  • To regularly share and supervise students on practice placement, and junior staff as appropriate
  • To explore co production and participation with young people and their carers to ensure responsive services that reflect needs.

Clinical
  • To contribute to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, using CPA principles, evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which will be delivered in the CAMHS setting
  • To hold a case-load as Lead practitioner within the Tier 3 teams and attend relevant MDT meetings
  • To regularly support and cover the duty rota
  • To provide specialist assessment and intervention as part of a multi-disciplinary approach, with specific responsibilities regarding the care pathway
  • To provide risk screening and assessment as well as risk management planning
  • To contribute to and facilitate evidence-based assessments and individual and group interventions
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Service
  • To regularly share and supervise students on practice placement, and junior staff as appropriate

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC.
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)


Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and other complex needs within a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework.
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
