This is an ideal post for an experienced Band 5 physiotherapist looking to further develop their neurology and management skills or a current Band 6 looking for a new challenge.

This job will allow the successful applicant to further develop a breadth of clinical skills with patients who often have a complex neuro presentation, as well as consolidate the necessary skills required for specialised practice. There is a strong focus on personal and service development and you will be given opportunities to participate in in-service training programme and external training where appropriate. We also have highly experienced clinicians within the team who are keen to support your ongoing personal and professional development.

Main duties of the job

The Hounslow Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT) is a client-centred, integrated Multi-disciplinary team comprising of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Neuropsychologist, a Pharmacist, a Specialist Nurse practitioner, an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Rehab assistants.

The Neuro-rehab teamworks across both intensive short-term rehab and longer term rehab pathways. There are opportunities to develop skills in rapid assessment and facilitating discharge from hospital, long term condition management and specialist neuro-rehab.

The service has developed specialist MDT clinics for Parkinson's' Disease and Multiple Sclerosis this post enables opportunities to develop specialist skills with these conditions. The team also help rehabilitate patients following acute stroke within the community in both pathways and treat patients with a variety of long term neurological conditions. The team works toward achieving personal set goals with patients including return to work.

Travel is an integral part of the post so applicants should possess the ability and willingness to travel across the borough for work purposes.

Candidates should have
  • A Valid HCPC registration
  • Relevant post-graduate experience in the NHS as a Band 5/6 Physiotherapist including working with people with neurological conditions

Person Specification



  • Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of personal/professional development (portfolio)


  • Membership of CSP
  • Membership of relevant Clinical Interest Groups



  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of adult and neurological rehabilitation treatments and modalities
  • Remain updated with professional practice and new research
  • Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession



  • Experience working within the NHS as a qualified physiotherapist
  • Broad experience in orthopaedics, medical, neurology and elderly care as Band 5 Physiotherapist
  • Experience working in a neuro rehabilitation team
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team


  • Completed minimum 18 months as Band 5 physiotherapist
  • Experience working within community rehabilitation physiotherapy services
  • Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
  • Experience of supervision of junior staff, student or rehabilitation assistant



  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely via written and spoken word.
  • Work within and understand national and trust policies (data protection, equal opportunities, health and safety)
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner (written and orally) to keep clear notes
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and with emotional or aggressive patients/carers


  • Understanding of clinical governance and its implications
  • Understanding of the National Health Plans and Implementations
  • Experience of teaching other physiotherapy staff members, patients and other health care professionals
