We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual interested in working with older people and their families in Northumberland. You will be working as part of a Community Treatment Team providing psychological assessment, formulation and interventions, as well as neuropsychological assessment. The role will involve liaising closely with psychiatry colleagues, colleagues in the CTT, care staff in residential and nursing homes, hospital based services, primary care teams and voluntary services.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for providing qualified psychological therapy to clients in the South Central Community Treatment Team, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions, in addition to clinical supervision, advice and consultation to colleagues and to others, on psychological aspects of evidence-based assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

The post holder will work as a member of the MDT, ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery, wellbeing and maximising independence.

The post-holder will provide clinical supervision and clinical consultation/ advice in accordance with service needs.

The post-holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

The post-holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and other research within the remit of the post.

The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, OR RMN, OR equivalent degree level qualification in mental health
• and Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma).
• HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner.

Desirable

• Training in clinical supervision.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, including severe and enduring mental health problems, psychosis and personality disorder. This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.

Desirable

• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
• Experience of the application of psychological therapy in different cultural contexts.

Skills and Competencies

Essential

• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
