Are you a dynamic, hard- working and ambitious registered Nurse with experience of Gastroenterology?

Would you like the opportunity to use your experience and excellent interpersonal skills to provide and develop a specialist nursing service to patients and their carers on an Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) pathway within the Gastroenterology Team?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Gastroenterology team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Gastroenterology team to provide protocol driven- clinical decision making for patients on the IDA pathway.

This post will complement the existing Gastroenterology Nursing Team and will network with the other health services and providers.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist nursing service to patients and their carers on an Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) pathway from their period of referral, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and discharge.

Manage a caseload of patients, delivering high quality and clinically effective patient care

This post will complement the existing Gastroenterology Nursing Team and will work collaboratively with the other members of the team.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Relevant post-basic training
  • Post registration qualification within specialty or equivalent and ability to link theory


Desirable

  • Recognised Adult Health Assessment qualification or willingness to undertake


Experience

Essential

  • Sufficient experience to demonstrate impact of IDA investigations. Understanding of treatment options and side effects in relation to IDA


Desirable

  • Experience within a variety of upper and/or lower GI clinical settings
  • Experience of teaching and assessing in clinical area


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Knowledge of national and local issues in the field of Iron Deficiency Anaemia and Gastroenterology
  • Effective and sensitive handling of difficult information and situations
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve highly complex situations
