Senior Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Mental Health Service for a band 6 Occupational Therapist contract within Adult Acute Services in Dudley within Black country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

This post will be within our Acute Inpatients Services (adults), based within the Inpatient Therapy Hub at Bushey Fields Hospital in Dudley. There will however, be expectation of flexibility to respond to service needs, which may include pan site cover across the Black Country.

The post holder will have responsibility for a caseload of clients including those with complex needs delivering intervention on and off ward environment including the therapy hub. Using evidence based/client centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions in addition to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services and other organisational developments.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate robust OT clinical skills and knowledge of working mental health settings. As well as having supervision/reflective practice skills to support junior staff.

Main duties of the job

• Implementation of evidence based/client centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions in addition to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services.
• Participate in therapy hub group program utilizing a range of psychoeducational interventions, such as anxiety management, distress tolerance and recovery focused groups that will feed into recovery focused care planning.
• The successful applicant will need to be an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be part of a wider team, including other Occupational Therapists, allied health professionals and members of an Multi-Disciplinary Team within an- Inpatients Therapy Hub.
• The candidate will need to be flexible in service provision/cross site cover on different wards when required and support the team pan trust.
• The post holder will have responsibility for a caseload of clients including those with complex needs and will need to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to adults/older adults within a hospital setting.
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate robust OT clinical skills and knowledge of working mental health settings.
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate reflective practice and have supervision skills in order to support the development of junior colleagues.

• The post holder is responsible for inputting RIO relating to patient contact including group and 1:1 interventions. Including ensuring documentation is completed within a timely manner.
• The post holder impacts on the Trust at Team level, Divisional Level and at AHP professional level
• The post holder may be requested to move to other locations in order to meet the needs of the service.
