DDU Ward is a 20 bedded acute gastroenterology ward which is unique due to caring for acutely ill medical patients under the surgical directorate. It incorporates a clinic area attached to the unit, offering the opportunity to rotate into this area and gain valuable experience in clinical assessment once you have developed your gastroenterology skills.

Candidates must have a full NMC Adult Nurse Registration, there is no option to be able to complete OSCE for this role. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre There will be a requirement to attend this in person. A virtual interview will not be possible.

Main duties of the job

We have a very fast paced and challenging environment and due to the ever increasing number of acutely ill patients we are looking for the right individual to join our friendly and progressive team. DDU is looking to recruit a passionate, innovative and dynamic Band 5 to enhance their already exciting team.

The ideal candidate would have to be willing to work in a fast paced environment, managing acutely unwell patients with a high turnover. The successful candidate would be required to deliver quality care and embody our trust values, are you an accountable, compassionate, respectful and engaging individual?

Within the ward we offer training specific to the needs of the ward, including competencies linked to gastroenterology and towards running a nurse led clinics, allowing you to look towards career progression within the specialism of gastroenterology.
