We are keen to recruit a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist and who has experience of working in a Community Mental Health Team. This position is based in Fareham Health Centre. There will be an expectation of some travel between bases in the South East Hampshire and across the care pathways.

The role offers exciting opportunities for direct clinical work, service development and multi-disciplinary team working. You will provide evidence-based psychological interventions to people experiencing a range of complex mental health issues, both individually and in groups. Furthermore, you will be contributing to psychologically-informed care by providing consultation, training and supervision within the team and as well as a leadership role. We are keen to provide excellent training in CAT or DBT or CBT.

We have strong links with Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology, the MSc/Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Severe Mental Health Problems and training courses for IAPT.

Applicants should be qualified in a core profession, and/or hold accreditation with an appropriate psychotherapy organisation. The post could be considered as a preceptorship opportunity to the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 into an 8a role.

Main duties of the job

You will join a supportive team of clinicians, committed to delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. You will receive regular supervision from a senior psychologist while working closely with other psychologists/psychological therapists in the CMHT. There will also be regular opportunities for contact with Psychological Services staff working across the Area. Within the service, we offer a range of interventions, including CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, CFT and EMDR. We actively encourage and support our staff to be accredited within at least one therapeutic modality, facilitating access to further training and development opportunities.

Applicants should have previous experience of working in mental health teams in the NHS and knowledge and skills in working with people who present with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. You will also be a flexible team player with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Essential

  • DClinPsy or DCounsPsy
  • OR
  • RMN, Dip SW, Dip OT or BSc OT.
  • PLUS
  • *Accreditation by an appropriate psychotherapy organisation (e.g. BABCP, SFDBT, ACAT).
  • Specialist training in a relevant specialty e.g. psychosis
  • Training in supervising others.
