An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join the Physical Health and Treatment Team in Stockport.

You will be based at Stepping Hill Hospital but will work at sites across Stockport where Depot clinics, Clozapine Clinics and Physical Health clinics will be held.

Main duties of the job

• To administer intramuscular injections, monitor the effect of medications, contraindications and side effects & be able to provide accurate information to patients and carers in a format they are able to understand
• To undertake venepuncture training and maintain knowledge and skills to be able to use this in both clinical and residential settings.
• To be able to use the POCHI machine and follow processes outlined in Clozapine Clinic procedures.
• To work with patients within the CMHT's/EIT as indicated, participating in the planning, delivery and evaluation of their individual programme of care, to address presenting health and wellbeing needs, in conjunction with any other relevant professionals.
• To undertake physical health checks, and respond to & report concerns appropriately
• To provide health promotion for service user's in the Stockport Mental Health Service understanding the relationship between mental health and physical health.
• To refer onto expert services in the community where a need has been identified.
• To be able to enhance a patients overall wellbeing, and promote parity of esteem.
• To undertake any other duties, appropriate to the grade, that may be required.

Education/Qualidications

Essential

• Registered Mental Health Nurse
• Good Standard of general education

Experience

Essential

• Clinical experience within the NHS
• Experience of working in Clozapine/Depot Clinics
• Experience of working with clients with complex Mental Health needs.

Knowledge

Essential

• Specialist knowledge of Mental Health problems and medications used in this setting and side effects
• Knowledge of the implications on the physical health of people living with SMI.

Desirable

• Specialist knowledge of therapeutic interventions.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

• Ability to administer intramuscular injections
• Ability to use PoCHi machine or willingness to undertake training.
• Venepuncture trained or a willingness to undertake training
• Ability to complete required physical health checks for people attending clinics and a willingness to undertake required training
