Within Workforce & OD we are key enablers to really making this happen - to ensure we actually make a difference. This role is no different. We are looking for a Head of Business Partnering and Operational Workforce. This is a new post that will allow you to shape the agenda, with a wide portfolio focusing on Business Partnering, Job Evaluation, Operational Workforce and Trade Unions, working within the Workforce & OD function. It provides a real opportunity for someone with the right attitude and bravery to do things differently, to put people at the centre of what we do.
Not only that but you will work as part of a great team! It is a senior role within WOD. You will work with the Assistant Director to lead on a Best Practice Review, focused on ensuring great partnership working with our Trade Unions and ensuring we enable the right outcomes for our staff. Your role will be focused on helping us create the conditions for our people to do their best work.
You will be part of our journey of cultural transformation to support our workforce now and in the future. This role will be critical to enable increased effectiveness in the way we support our staff and partner our Service Groups.
Main duties of the job
This post provides the strategic lead role for the group of Business Partners working within the Service Groups. It also includes the Operational HR, Policy and Job Evaluations teams.
We are looking for someone with an engaging leadership style, highly driven and outcome/solutions focused. A brave and bold change maker who is willing to take us on our Best Practice review and to help influence effectiveness of HR practice across our organisation working in partnership with our trade unions.
You will inspire confidence through your knowledge and professional expertise of all aspects of the portfolio, demonstrating significant operational HR experience at senior level including complex case management.
You will need to demonstrate that you are credible and resilient with an ability to manage fast paced change, whilst maintaining good governance and a good sense of humour.

Essential
- Qualified to Master's degree level or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience
- Knowledge of the Workforce Business Partner model
- Extensive specialist knowledge required over a range of disciplines e.g. Payroll Management, Financial Management, Information Systems, Research and Development and this knowledge would have been gained over a significant period of time in addition to specialist training.
- Knowledge of MS excel in the development of workforce analysis and the use of configuration tools for data analysis
- MCIPD qualified
