Are you an established Occupational Therapist looking to be part of an experienced team that have recently been awarded with significant investment? Our Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service would love to hear from you where ideas are shared, and visions are supported.
You will provide specialist advice with a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity. Our integrated community stroke and neuro team is AHP lead and will provide various pathways including supported self-management, advice with signposting, intensive rehabilitation (ESD), complex management and reviews. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team including social work, neuropsychology, rotations across the acute and community pathway and opportunities for advanced practice.You will have access to a wide range of specialists with many years of experience who can help to increase your opportunities for learning and development of skills.
The specialist occupational therapist post is a part time role of up to 31.5 hours. Hours can be met flexibly with consideration of condensed hours. Our service is a 6-day service and we promote hybrid working with mixed caseload of community, base and working from home
North Dorset (base at Yeatman Hospital) covering Shafestbury, Gillingham, Sherbourne and Blandford.
West Dorset (base at Forston Clinic) covering Weymouth & Portland, Lyme Regis, Purbecks and Dorchester.
Main duties of the job
We have recently been awarded significant investment in Dorset to develop Stroke and Neuro Services across Dorset to meet the National Stroke Service model published by NHS England last year (particularly with regards to Integrated Community Stroke Services- ICSS).
To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.
To provide specialist care and interventions, assessments, treatments and managing patients on a caseload, as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.
To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients / service users.
To devise specialist programmes of care for other professionals to deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately.
To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.
Provide supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students and trained practitioners.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
