Main duties of the job
There is currently a permanent opportunity for a dedicated, passionate and inspiring Ward Manager for Broadfield Unit. We provide specialised rehabilitation to enable adults with acquired neurological and musculoskeletal conditions and complex disabilities to progress towards an optimal quality of life.
We are looking for someone demonstrating a strong autonomous leadership style championing a positive, pioneering approach to delivering high quality, progressive and patient-centred services. The skills required are based on an experience of managing this specialist patient group but also utilising a strong evidence base.
The successful candidate will work within the leadership structure to deliver high quality and innovative nursing practice in line with our service specification, mission and vision, national guidelines and specialised rehabilitation standards.
We are seeking a leader who can build & guide a confident, high quality and caring team of medical, nursing, AHP & healthcare staff who are experts in their field.

As part of the Leadership Team within the Hospital, key responsibilities include the human resource and financial management of the ward. You will ensure the 24 hour nursing service is covered by appropriate rostering and skill mix, facilitate multi-disciplinary team working and monitor/participate in patient care provision.
The successful applicant will have:
Proven interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to handle complex communications
Significant leadership and managerial experience with an ability to demonstrate experience in multi-disciplinary team working
A management qualification (or willingness to undertake management studies)

- Have continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and rehabilitation for a cohort of patients with complex neuro-rehabilitation needs.
- To lead a nursing team and ensure that high standards of care and rehabilitation are maintained by the whole team
- Responsibility for the setting of high standards of care and the management of a specialist Neuro-rehabilitation unit, including the deployment and supervision of staff and where the teaching of student and/or extensive nursing intervention is required.
- To effectively communicate with all the Wards and Departments, within Haywood and externally, and General Practitioners to ensure timely and appropriate admissions and smooth, safe transfers and discharges.
- Participate in the Hospital Coordinator out of hours shift system to provide adequate nurse management cover on the hospital site.
