Exciting changes are happening in our team with great opportunities ahead in our new Integrated Children's Occupational Therapy service in Waltham Forest, London.

We have an exciting opportunity foran enthusiastic, committed occupational therapist, to join our growing team, where you will be part of an integrated service combining health and social care roles.

We are recruiting to a Band 7, fixed term, full-time post and would be delighted to consider applicants who are keen to be part of our journey, as we develop our integrated services for children and young people.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop skills in relation to social services OT and to participate in developing service pathways and a successful integrated OT service. You would be working with other social services OTs and very closely with the health OT team and the broader MDT.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people with a wide range difficulties, conditions or disabilities and will contribute to planning and co-ordinating service delivery. You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge, highly specialist assessment skills and communication skills and advanced knowledge of equipment and adaptations.

For this post, we are looking for a therapist with experience of working with children with disabilities, including experience of specialist equipment provision and assessing for housing adaptations.

You will strive to equip children and young people to develop independence and self-management and to participate in all that supports their leading full and happy lives.

You will be keen to collaborate with all stakeholders in further developing an effective and responsive service for children and young people and their families/carers.

You will be motivated to develop your own learning, contribute to service development and the training and development of colleagues and students. The successful applicant will thrive on working as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of �4,313 and a maximum payment of �5,436 per annum pro rata).

The Childrens Occupational Therapy Team are based in a purpose-built centre, co-located with many other health and local authority childrens services in Waltham Forest. Therapists have good access to clinical space as well as close working relations with the multi-disciplinary teams. We are currently offering both virtual and face to face appointments. The successful applicant will work closely with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services. Specialist opportunities exist to work within the Child Development Team and delivering parent/carer training.

There is a well-established appraisal system and a commitment to support staff to develop leadership and clinical skills, through regular supervision and internal and external training opportunities.

We are looking forcandidates with good organisational and time management skills who arekeen to take a leading role in providing highly specialist advice and recommendations for equipment and adaptations, to support children and young people and their families/carers.

This post would be suitable for a Band 6 (or equivalent) occupational therapist with childrens community experience, ready to take on Band 7 responsibilities or a Band 7 (or equivalent) therapist looking for further experience.
