An opportunity has arisen within the urology department of Northumbria trust , due to the development and extension of the services across the trust..

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic qualified nurse to join our specialist nursing team as band 6 clinical nurse practitioner within the field of urology. You will be based at Wansbeck initially for training purpose, however, be expected to work across sites (this can be discussed at interview). You will be expected to have experience within urology and the ability to provide a high standard of care to all patients and carers accessing the service

Main duties of the job

We are predominately a nurse led service with consultant cover on a sessional basis from the neighbouring Newcastle Trust. The role involves working within a diagnostic and treatment service for both benign conditions and cancers within urology field. Conducting clinical assessments, planning patient care by requesting necessary investigations and bloods. implementation and evaluation of treatments from GP referral to follow up care or discharge.

Training and support will be given during your probationary period and after by our highly experienced nurse specialist team and consultant urologist.

We deliver urology services in 3 of the trust's main sites Wansbeck, north Tyneside and Hexham. The team and services are expanding within the trust due to increased numbers of referrals and the introduction of new procedures and treatments offered to our users locally.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional registration with NMC / HCPC / GPC
  • Degree level of knowledge relevant to registration
  • Recognised teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
  • Practice development course / qualification or equivalent Clinical skills training
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Must be willing to complete an Advanced Clinical Assessment Course

  • Post Graduate Qualification
