B6 Specialist Physiotherapist in Cystic Fibrosis:Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you like to specialise in Cystic Fibrosis and work in a highly respected and established team, with training, support and education? Then this post may be for you!

This post includes community work, travelling to patients' homes across a wide regional area. Our CF team cares for approximately 300 adults with CF as part of the Wessex Adult CF service.

You will also be part of the wider Therapy services team, consisting of around 270 wte Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy support staff, working across our 7-day service, 365 days a year. You will be expected to support our acute trust working by covering weekends and Bank Holidays on a roster basis. Training and support will be provided by your team, as well as the wider therapy dept and trust.

Your Responsibilities: what youll do

We are looking for a dynamic Physiotherapist to assist with strategic development our CF service. This post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within this speciality and oversee the development of others. This post holder, along with existing staff, will be based within Southampton General Hospital, however, will also be required to work off site undertaking admission prevention, individual support within patients homes, or nearer a patients geographical locality.

Please ensure you will be able to undertake this community aspect of the work, travelling to and from patient homes, other hospitals, and community sites as part of this role, as well as transporting and fitting large pieces of equipment.

The successful applicant should have relevant postgraduate respiratory/Cystic Fibrosis clinical experience with a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in the care of Cystic Fibrosis patients with a wide range of pathologies.This role involves working closely with our regional multi-professional Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team and is supported by a Clinical Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis. Your clinical remit would involve the treatment of both acute inpatients and outpatients, attending our multi-professional Cystic fibrosis clinics, and working in the community. Attendance at regional meetings may also be required.

What were looking for:The post holder will be expected to lead the therapy team in the absence of the Band 8/7s, be involved in the teaching programme, service development, student supervision and the development of Band 3-5 therapy staff. All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7-day service. The post holder will be expected to engage in research as appropriate, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain up to date skills and knowledge in order to implement evidence-based practice. The role will require teaching undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.The successful applicant would be expected to work at weekends within all fields of medicine and be on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards at UHS on a rota basis.For further information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Rakhee Patel or Sian Green Telephone 02381 206801 or Bleep 2378.
