The Podiatry team at Solihull Community Services are looking for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Podiatrist. We welcome applications for those seeking a full or part time position. You will have experience and knowledge of a broad range of Podiatric practice together with a desire to learn and develop your skills further.
The post holder will contribute to the development and provision of specialist podiatric care programmes to patients who are at risk of amputation, in a range of community settings.
There are opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of podiatry disciplines including Nail Surgery, Research, and Podiatric Surgery.
The successful candidate will assess patients' Podiatric needs and deliver quality care across the borough of Solihull. We operate out of 6 community clinics, domiciliary settings and rotate through the acute Diabetic Foot Clinic. There are opportunities to work alongside our diabetes team lead and specialist vascular podiatrist, undertake wound care clinics and participate in nail surgery rotations. We also work in association with our community based team of Podiatric surgeons.

Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous practitioner and as part of the wider team to manage a clinical caseload of community podiatry patients.
To undertake the assessment and treatment of patients who often have complex and/or chronic presentations, including active wounds.
Taking a proactive and decisive role in order to determine diagnosis, differential diagnosis, prognosis and optimal podiatric management for new and established patients.
Nail Surgery podiatry practice
Support the development of junior clinical staff and students through supervision, mentorship and advice
Promotion of foot health advice to patients, carers, representative groups and other interested parties

- *5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English
- *BSc/Diploma in Podiatry
- *Local Anaesthesia certificate
- *POM A and POM S certificates

- *Previous experience of working in an NHS setting with a variety of patient risk groups
- *Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of accurate assessment, appropriate and timely management of podiatry patients across a variety risk categories, including high risk patients with complex needs

- *To perform autonomously to deliver high quality foot care treating a range of podiatric conditions. Delivering care both jointly and as a lone worker in clinic and domiciliary settings across the borough of Solihull.
- *To provide an effective, high quality clinical service for patients who are referred by GPs, Community Nursing, other specialities including Vascular, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Podiatric surgery.
- *To discharge patients where they do not meet the service criteria or where podiatric care is no longer required.
- *Ability to accurately perform vascular and neurological assessment.
- *Ability to communicate clinical information and advice clearly and logically to patients, relatives, carers on self-care and health education.
- *Ability to generate written communication which is accurate, relevant and concise
- *Ability to administer local anaesthetic and perform nail surgery.
- *To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own clinical caseload.
- *To attend and contribute to staff meetings, study days and the service development process.
- *To be responsible for maintaining accurate, comprehensive and timely patient treatment records in accordance with the RCOP (Royal College of Podiatry), HCPC and local service standards of practice in accordance with UHB NHS Trust policies/procedures.
