To ensure that the Trust complies with all applicable waste legislation and support with achieving our corporate objectives in connection with Green Plan / waste minimisation/reduction and recycling.
Lead Whittington Health in the implementation of the Trusts waste management policy both in the acute and community sites (14) and other areas of E& F including capital projects.
Manage and reconcile all waste contract financials.
Responsible for the identification and delivery of CIP plans.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to develop relationships with but not limited too:
The role is requirement to travel to all sites & you will be expected to manage all aspects of Waste Management for these sites.
The role will require the candidate to enter a number of sensitive Healthcare environments including wards and theatres therefore you will need to be CRB checked.

Job responsibilities
- Ensure the Trust and its waste subcontractors comply with all applicable legislation
- To drive significant reductions in total waste and agreed increases in the proportion of waste
- To be fully conversant with the waste management
- Day to day administration, supervision and monitoring of the waste management contracts including recycling, mixed non-hazardous waste streams, some specific hazardous waste streams and confidential waste streams
- Develop strategies to improve the Trusts waste management
- Coordinate and monitor waste management costs
- Prepare and present reports to Sustainability forums and Waste committees

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Appropriate experience in a corporate setting sufficient to demonstrate competency and ability
- Educated to degree level in environmental management or equivalent / associated discipline related to the role
- Management qualification or equivalent professional experience
- BICSc CPSS, NVQ level 3 Knowledge of COSHH
Desirable
- Experience in Waste Management from within an Healthcare setting
