We are seeking a dynamic and resourceful part time physiotherapist with a specialist knowledge of respiratory to lead our dedicated team of therapy staff working on the inpatient respiratory wards and acute respiratory care unit. The role will involve predominantly leading the service providing care to the inpatient respiratory wards to support the assessment, management and safe discharge planning for this client group. There will also be a responsibility to support the critical care unit so the ability to work flexibly across both areas is essential.

There will also be the opportunity to work in the outpatient respiratory clinics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and support workers providing care to patients admitted with complex medical and respiratory presentations. The role will also involve being part of the therapy Band 7 leadership team for the acute inpatient service, working closely with our other inpatient teams. The role may also involve working in the outpatient respiratory service

The post will include a responsibility for weekend work as part of the acute weekend rota and on-call service.

To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all members of the MDT team.To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply to work situation.Comply with Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.Comply with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of proficiency for Physiotherapists and Standards of conduct, performance and ethics

To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out Physiotherapy duties and to adhere to departmental policy, including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use of equipment by others through, teaching, training and supervision of practice.To deputise and support the Clinical / Service Manager on operational issues.To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters.Be responsible for attending and working in outreach clinics as an autonomous practitionerBe responsible for planning and co-ordinating the student placementsBe responsible for checking notes, observing Band 5 and Band 6 assessments.
