Community Mental Health - Eating Disorders Pathway

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to work within a dedicated, mental health, community eating disorder pathway, whilst supporting the current Transformation programme across secondary mental health care services within Coventry and Warwickshire, following substantial new investment.

We are excited by this service development and the opportunity it provides to improve patient care, reduce the need for inpatient treatment and contribute to the development of innovative interventions. The expansion of services will provide clinicians with an opportunity to shape clinical developments and evaluate new ways of working in the field part of a well-established but expanding multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

This opportunity will utilise the specialism of Social Work and social interventions to work within a framework of empowering and enabling, whilst maximising independence and adhering to recovery focused outcomes.

The successful applicant will be required to provide highly specialist social assessments and interventions, which are evidenced based with a comprehensive knowledge of relevant social care models.

Working in conjunction with team leads, service lead, and professional leadership, there will be an opportunity to focus on social interventions, areas of quality, service improvement, innovation, and research.

The post holder will be expected to support and promote a set of values that maximise the potential of individuals by promoting their recovery with the aim of reducing social exclusion, stigma and the potentially disabling effects of severe mental illness. Therefore, this role will primarily focus on using social interventions.

The post holders will offer a range of, outcome focussed, highly specialist social interventions which will encourage positive risk taking and require working creatively, whilst providing recovery focussed care planning and achieving person centred recovery outcomes.

Job responsibilities

The community mental health eating disorder pathway is a dynamic, innovative, and evidence-based approach developed as part of mental health transformation project, which will sit alongside existing community mental health services to enhance independence, recovery and promote co-produced services.

This new service and pathway will significantly increase the capacity to provide timely assessment, treatment and support.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent (AMHP or willingness to undertake)
• Training in working with people who are living with eating disorders or who have experienced trauma
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Highly developed knowledge and expertise of mental health / eating disorders (assessment) acquired through a combination of in-depth experience and/or formal study.
• Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures and theory
• Relevant training and experience specialist short courses e.g., STORM

Experience

Essential

• Substantial experience in a Mental health care setting
• Developed specialist knowledge gained within a similar environment over a considerable period
• Recent experience working as an autonomous practitioner often in situations where the post-holder is the only professional involved
• Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk management

Other

Essential

• Must have full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use
