As a dynamic and forward thinking Emergency Department we are committed to providing excellent leadership to our Nursing team. We are currently seeking to employ a Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.

The Homerton Emergency Department sees over 120,000 new patients every year, adults and children, who present with a variety of conditions.

Main duties of the job

As a dynamic and forward-thinking Emergency Department, we are committed to providing excellent leadership to our nursing team. We have a vacancy for a highly experienced Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse in the Children's Emergency Department.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their expert knowledge of emergency nursing and be able to translate this into effective nursing practice. They will need to have proven leadership skills, be energetic, hardworking and proactive, as well as committed to their own professional development and that of others.

As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be ambitious, highly motivated with excellent organizational skills. In return, we offer developmental opportunities for nursing staff interested in progressing their nursing knowledge and managerial skills.

  • RN/RCN, Post Registration Accident & Emergency Course, Post registration Teaching & Assessing Course ,APLS, Ability to think and practice at first degree level



  • Expert leadership. Able to demonstrate good management skills and contribute to the development of the service. Is able to remain calm and manage consistently in stressful situations.



  • Significant post registration experience in accident and emergency in a leadership role



  • Knowledge of current developments in nursing practice and have the ability to translate these into quality A& E and Child health nursing care
  • Expert clinical knowledge
