We are seeking to appoint a Band 6 nurse to join our small and friendly TB team which is based at Accrington Victoria Hospital.
You will be working in a community setting providing specialist nursing care to patients who have been diagnosed with TB and provide screening/vaccination clinics to those who are eligible.
You will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service, have evidence of personal development, good problem solving skills and demonstrate a high level of communication skills. Band 5 nurses who wish to apply for a 12 month secondment would also be welcome.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide specialist nursing care to patients and their families and assist with the management, prevention and follow up of TB in the community.
You will manage an independent case load of patients andneed to demonstrate autonomy in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individuals programmes of care within the specialist area of TB
You will have responsibilities for screening all 'high risk groups' including new immigrants and those who have been exposed to an active TB case in the geographical area following national guidelines on the prevention and control of TB.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse ideally with post registration experience in general respiratory/TB nursing.
The successful candidate must possess the initiative to undertake lone working who recognises the importance of risk assessment.
About us
The TB team consists of 3 consultants, 3 clinical nurse specialists, 1 HCA and 2 administrators who work together to deliver high quality health care to a range of patients. We hold a weekly MDT meeting that you will be required to partake in.
You will be based at AVH and be working in the community providing new entrant screening clinics, vaccination clinics and visiting patients in their own homes.
The successful candidate will be given training and support to up skill themselves and develop their knowledge and skills within the area of TB.
Our core hours are Monday - Friday working between the hours of 9am and 5pm though there is flexibility to work longer days if required.

- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration
- Educated to degree level
- Post registration experience in respiratory care
