We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Department of Cellular Pathology. The successful candidate must have completed the Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or have significant experience to demonstrate competency to that level.
The overriding purpose is to deliver outstanding healthcare for our patients and communities through personal actions and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
The primary role is to act as a specialist, registered Biomedical Scientist providing a diagnostic service to clinicians and other users as an aid to diagnosis and treatment to undertake to a high standard the scientific work of the laboratory, analysing initial findings and identifying further action undertake specimen dissection, as authorised by the Consultant Histopathologist and lead sections within the department.

Knowledge Requirements
Essential
- Relevant theoretical / practical / scientific knowledge to underpin the technical aspect of a Histopathology laboratory service.
Qualifications- Academic/Craft/ Professional
Essential
- HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist. Biomedical science degree or equivalent acceptable by HCPC.
- Specialist knowledge of Histopathology (MSc , Specialist portfolio or equivalent)
Desirable
- Completion of supervisory/leadership course
Skills/Abilities
Essential
- Ability to organise work and meet deadlines.
- Good technical and communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
- IT Skills.
- Experience of and relevant competency assessed specimen dissection.
