The nursing or AHP lead will support the Yorkshire and Humber renal ODN in the delivery of a challenging service improvement agenda. The post holder will provide clinical nursing/AHP leadership to develop and support the implementation of service improvement projects that ensure the network delivers sustainable, high quality patient care in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Building upon the work already undertaken and working closely with the teams in the 6 Trusts within the ODN, the post holder will identify opportunities and lead in the implementation of solutions to improve governance and patient experience using service improvement principles and tools. All service improvement projects will be aligned with and embedded into the work programme for the network.

Main duties of the job

  • Be an expert renal nurse/ AHP and excellent role model.
  • Provide leadership to benchmarking activities across Yorkshire & Humber.
  • Support standardising clinical guidelines and be actively involved in all aspects of clinical governance across the Network.
  • Build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, fostering a culture of collaboration for the delivery of equitable, high-quality care.
  • Using research methodology establish a network wide processes for audit and support staff in carrying out research and audit activities, in achieving research objectives and formally disseminating these outcomes.
  • To support the renal workstreams, with the Clinical Lead, ensuring that priorities are agreed and delivered in the process of reducing unwarranted variation and improving renal care for all patients across the region.
  • Influence and shape the culture of the Renal Network, in line with both STH and regional values and strategic aims.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 9 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level
  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional with current registration
  • Educated to Master's level or evidence of this level of working
  • Specialist training in relevant renal area


Desirable

  • Leadership or Management training/qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post registration experience within renal services.
  • Experience of leading projects to redesign/improve clinical services
  • Leadership experience in the NHS at Trust level e.g. lead nurse


Desirable

  • Experience of partnership working between organisations


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of renal care quality standards
  • Understanding of how to use data to improve quality & productivity
  • Knowledge of service improvement tools and technique


Desirable

  • Understanding of commissioning and contracting function and processes


Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and non-verbally) and sensitively with a wide range of people and to build credibility quickly
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary team
