Are you a clinical expert in Dementia and Older peoples Mental Health? And have experiencing within liaison psychiatry. If so, we have an exciting career opportunity for you. We are recruiting Advanced Clinical Practitioners across our service line. We understand that Advanced Clinical Practice is developing within mental health and therefore would also welcome non trained ACP's to apply, as would are in a position to accept a trainee, who would start on a band 7 and then moving to a band 8a on successful completion for the ACP MSc.

In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, we are developing Advanced Practice opportunities in Cornwall across professional groups in all mental healthcare delivery settings. Advanced Clinical Practitioner roles are well routed within Acute Heath care, in such areas as emergency medicine. However, relatively new in our field of nursing, with the first NHS policy published in 2020, detailing The Competency Curriculum for Mental Health and recently updated in June 2022.

You will need to hold a qualification in advanced Practice or have been successful in the eportfolio route.

You will be invited to join the National Community of Practice for Mental Health ACP's which our own ACP Lead helps to steer. We also have plans to develop in the future our very own Cornwall, Mental health Community for Advanced Practice.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be working towards an advanced clinical practice degree as part of a Trust supported apprenticeship or HEE funded route
  • The post holder will be responsible for advanced clinical practice in mental health in working a
  • The post holder will initially be based in the specialty of mental health in working age
  • The post holder will be a highly experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the patients and their families within the mental health in working age
  • The post holder will be able to take a relevant history and clinical assessment to develop management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan within the limitations of their knowledg and skills while being supported by medical and other members of the multi-disciplinary Th will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon establishe guidelines.
  • The post-holder will work under the supervision of a Consultant Practitioner.
