Are you ready to develop your skills, knowledge and progress your dietetic career? We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and proactive Dietitian with excellent clinical, communication and team working skills. The post will work across community as well as being an integral part of our nutrition and hydration care home initiative. There is a varied caseload working in GP clinics, care homes and home visits.

You will develop skills in specialist areas including nutrition support, oncology, diabetes and learning disabilities supporting patients across all care settings. There will be opportunities to work independently as well as in Multidisciplinary and Primary Care teams. There will be opportunities to spend time with specialist teams including Home Enteral feeding to develop skills.

The team consists of 28 Dietitians, 4 Dietetic Assistants and Admin team. We are forward thinking, friendly, supportive and innovative. We are unique in that we provide a Nutritional Prescribing service in community, prescribing Enteral Feeds, Oral Nutritional supplements, Infant Formula and Gluten Free products.

We are a fully integrated service with Hospital and Community and have excellent links with GPs, Hospital Specialist services and surrounding Trusts. As a department, we support and encourage Continuous Professional Development and are an active participant in student dietetic training, clustering with Sheffield Hallam and Nottingham Universities.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist high standard dietetic service to adult patients within the community Service in Rotherham.

To take the clinical lead on the nutritional management of assigned caseload/ patient with cancer within the community, providing dietetic assessments, interventions and evaluations of patients nutritional needs.

To lead and support junior staff to provide integrated dietetic care at care homes across Rotherham

To provide clinical supervision and appraisal of junior and support staff within areas of work and any other area as service development requires.

To be responsible to educate care workers on the need for adequate nutrition and implement a nutrition-screening tool to highlight and monitor patients referred to the service areas.

To contribute to the delivery of services to meet Trust objectives.

To document and maintain associated records accurately and timely.

To be involved in education and training of all Health Care Professionals and patients.

To provide interventions in locations across the health community covered by The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as required.

To work closely with the Nutritional Prescribing Lead and Team Leaders to ensure appropriate prescribing of nutritional supplements and enteral feeds

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Dietetics
  • Previous experience of working as a Band 5 Dietitian


Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualifications relevant to Oncology/ Care of Elderly to Masters level or equivalent
  • BDA member
  • Completed recognised IT course e.g. ECDL/Elite/MOST


Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience of working within stroke rehab services
  • Evidence of development and supervision of staff and students
  • Up to date documented evidence of CPD and KSF relevant to clinical area
  • Experience of working within a multi-professional team.


Desirable

  • Experience of management of resources
  • Experience of user/carer participation and engagement in review/development of services

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of using standardised assessments and development of relevant outcome measures.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Electronic Patient records
  • Demonstrates knowledge of equipment available
  • Knowledge and understanding of national legislation, guidance and regulatory framework including NSF, NICE, Information Governance, Equality and Diversity, Data Protection, Safeguarding, Professional and Clinical Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and implications for patient care.
  • Knowledge and evidence of participation in clinical audit and evidence gathering methods.
  • Ability to critically analyse evidence based practice.

  • Evidence of clinical expertise and knowledge to Post graduate Diploma level developed through CPD and experience
