An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated dietitian to clinically lead, coordinate and develop specialist Dietetic Stroke services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The post is 1.0 WTE covering Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil and Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, or alternatively we will welcome applications for 2 x 0.5 WTE, one based at each hospital site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead, co-ordinate and develop a specialist dietetic stroke service to patients across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB).

The role is to ensure nutrition is optimised throughout the stroke pathway to maximise patient outcomes.

The post holder will be clinically responsible for the dietetic service within the CTMUHB acute stroke units and clinical supervision of Specialist Dietitians working in stroke in our community hospitals. They will be a key member of the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring optimized patient outcomes, service innovation and strategic development both within Cwm Taf Morgannwg and nationally.

The post holder will also develop a catering lead role for texture modified food and fluid and enhance links with the hospital catering departments and professional networking with other Dietetic catering links across Wales.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • BSc, Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent dietetic qualification with state registration.
  • MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate training/experience in specialist clinical dietetics.
  • Registered with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of post graduate study to diploma level or ongoing CPD in relevant specialism.
  • Evidence of a commitment to ongoing continuous professional development.
  • Evidence of or qualification in research and audit.
  • Evidence of clinical supervision.
  • Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
  • Detailed specialist clinical dietetic knowledge of Stroke.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular disease.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of Health Issues affecting the local population and strategies in place to support improvement in these areas.
  • Knowledge of health and safety.


Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association.
  • Member of BDA specialist interest groups or equivalent specialist interest group e.g. PENG, BAPEN.
  • Management qualification or evidence of management development.
  • Clinical supervisory skills training or Advanced Clinical Educators Course.


Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience in specialist stroke dietetics at a senior level.
  • Demonstrates evidence based specialist clinical knowledge.
  • Experience of working as part of a clinical team to deliver patient and organisational objectives.
  • Experience of conducting clinical audit and or research.
  • Experience of clinical supervision of students and junior staff.
  • Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for staff, patients and students.
  • Practical experience of human resource management, supervision and mentoring.
  • Sufficient postgraduate experience in area of speciality.


Desirable

  • Experience in operational Management/Leadership.
