We are seeking a part time Band7, Band 8a or 8b Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (preceptorships encouraged) to join our ' Outstanding ' Community Neurology team based in King's lynn.

The Community Neurology Team is a specialist, innovative and award winning multi-disciplinary team. The service we provide is delivered in various settings according to patient's needs in both the community (i.e. patient home, care homes) and within local community clinic settings.

The role follows a hybrid model of working where working in the office or at home is supported, with patient interventions being a mix of clinic or patient home visits. The Clinical/counselling Psychologist will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary Community Neurology Service providing a specialist service for individuals who have a wide range of neurological conditions, predominantly but not exclusively Acquired brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsons Disease.The clinical/counselling psychologist is involved in the Acquired brain injury pathway, leading monthly meetings with the MDT, rehabilitation consultant and Social Services to ensure rehabilitation is progressing in a goal led way with timely interventions anddischarge.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a timely, in depth, highly specialist, assessment of cognitive, psychological, social and which will provide essential information in planning a client, centred rehabilitation programme. You will accept clinical responsibility and accountability for a caseload. Evaluate and prioritise caseload in accordance with the client need and team resources. This will include responsibility for overseeing the within the Team. Providing support and supervision of psychological interventions to members of the multidisciplinary team as identified following client assessment and team goal review. Assessment and treatment services to be provided in the most appropriate setting. You will provide support, education and relevant information to clients and carers in regard to the medical diagnosis, prognosis and possible outcomes of Neurological Conditions. You will need to establish clear and effective communication networks with clients, carers, other treating professionals and community agencies at a level that is acceptable to and meets the individual's needs. You will ensure written and verbal communication is conveyed in a timely manner to all relevant people whilst maintaining confidentiality, highlighting risk factors. In conjunction with clients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team, it may be necessary to attend case conferences in order to report progress and evaluate effectiveness of rehabilitation programme, modifying agreed goals as appropriate.

Clinical Practice
  • To provide a timely, in depth, highly specialist, assessment of cognitive, psychological, social and which will provide essential information in planning a client, centred rehabilitation programme.

  • To remain current in the use and interpretation of a range of specialist assessment techniques, which will include standardised assessments of neuropsychological function.
  • To plan and implement client centred individual and/or group interventions, which will form part of the . Continuously monitoring, evaluating and modifying client treatment as appropriate, documenting progress to provide evidence of programme effectiveness. Providing support and supervision of psychological interventions to members of the multidisciplinary team as identified following client assessment and team goal review.   • In conjunction with clients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team, it may be necessary to attend case conferences in order to report progress and evaluate effectiveness of rehabilitation programme, modifying agreed goals as appropriate.

Education
  • To develop psychology teaching to health care staff within the Community Neurology Service and other relevant groups, within the trust through an active role in in-service training through presentations., attendance at external study days / conferences, reflection and clinical supervision.
  • Contribute to the training and provision of clinical supervision of health care professionals on placement, including assistants, students, and fellow professionals as agreed with team manager.
  • To contribute to postgraduate clinical/counselling psychology training and provide adequate supervision to trainees on placement.
  • Participate in promoting public, multi-agency and professional awareness of the needs of people with Neurological conditions.

Personal Development
  • Ensure employer has copy of current professional registration certificate.
  • To comply with the British Psychological Society and professional body, Code Of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
  • To maintain own clinical and professional development (CPD) by keeping up to date with changes/developments and research in practice to enhance clinical reasoning skills.
  • To participate in an annual Performance Review.
  • Participate in an agreed ongoing professional development programme.
  • Undertake regular team, individual, and profession specific clinical/managerial supervision as supervisor and supervisee.
  • To provide advice to the Team Leader, Trust and relevant services in relation to the psychological needs of people with Neurological conditions and related physical health care needs. Playing a major role in developing psychology services within the Community Neurology Service in line with current best practice.
  • To conform to all trust policies and guidelines relating to areas such as: discrimination, health and safety, moving and handling, basic life support, fire safety and risk management.
  • To take an active role in -service training through, presentations, attendance at external study days/conferences, reflection and clinical supervision.
  • To attend weekly Team Meetings to discuss joint goals with the wider Team and to disseminate information.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical/counselling Psychology
  • The post holder must be registered with the Health and Professional Council
  • Evidence of continued professional development


Desirable

  • Membership of BPS, Division of Clinical Psychology / Neuropsychology
  • Completion of a qualification in neuropsychology (QICN)


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of clinical work undertaken with supervised practice in the area of neuropsychology


Desirable

  • Experience in a community based setting
  • Supervision of staff and students
  • Experience providing Vocational Rehabilitation Services
