University Hospitals of Derby and Burton have an exciting position available for a CT Superintendent Radiographer based at our community diagnostic centres at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and Ilkeston Community Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the CT scanners at these sites as well as managing the mobile CT scanners within University Hospital of Derby and Burton(UHDB), which will travel to different sites in Derbyshire as Community Diagnostic Centres develop.

This is a full time post, however part-time may be considered for the right candidate. The job will suit a highly motivated experienced CT Radiographer with a desire to lead a team of staff across modern scanners with a varied workload.

This will be a rewarding but challenging role and we welcome Band 6/7 Radiographers with a desire to stretch their leadership skills and enhance their prospects for career progression.

Main duties of the job

You will have a BSc degree in diagnostic radiography or equivalent and have current registration with the Health and Professions Council (HCPC).

We have a focus on patient care and deliver a high quality Diagnostic Imaging Service with a varied caseload ideal for training and further developing your career. We are a progressive forward thinking department with a positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the NHS.

We currently have 6 GE CT scanners and soon to gain an additional 5 GE scanners including the newest to market, GE Revolution Apex , and GE Revolution Acsend. These will begin to be operational in a few months time.

Qualification

Essential

  • Current HCPC registration
  • BSc Hons or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Substantial post registration practice, resulting in the broadening of expert knowledge and experience
  • Highly specialised knowledge in imaging, underpinned by theory and experience


Desirable

  • Leadership and/or communication training
  • Portfolio demonstrating multiple CPD activities
  • Management Experience
  • PG Cert CT


Knowledge

Essential

  • Expert knowledge in core practice imaging examinations, underpinned by theory and experience
  • Interpret Radiographic Images
  • Up to date breadth and knowledge of radiographic practice
  • Proven track record in training, educating and mentoring Imaging staff
  • Organisational skills
  • Problem solving skills


Desirable

  • PG Cert. in Radiographic Education or equivalent

  • Substantial post registration practice, resulting in the broadening of expert knowledge and experience

  • Ability to perform all required plain film Radiographic examinations to a high standard and act as a source of expertise for junior staff
  • An ability to respond to new technology and procedures, adapting own techniques
  • Manipulation of complex x-ray

  • Experience in supporting and mentoring junior staff
  • Experience in preceptorship and supporting newly qualified staff during their transition into registered practice
