The post holder will be an expert practitioner in dermatology nursing, providing clinical and educational support within the health board and deliver high quality evidence based individualised care required by patients with all types of dermatological problems. The post holder will be responsible for managing and providing a specialist service for patients with acute and chronic skin disease and those requiring biologics therapy and systemic drug therapy. This entails managing a high clinical workload and provide clinical, social and psychological support to the patients enabling them through education and health promotion to reach their optimum level of independence and health.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly dynamic Dermatology Team at Betsi Cadwaldr University Hospital Board. This post will be based primarily at the Ysbyty Gwynedd but flexibility will be required depending on service needs.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to develop expertise within this specialty. Experience within a dermatology setting is desirable however consideration will be given to a candidate who demonstrates a keen interest and proven track record of personal and professional development and are willing to undergo training to meet this role. You must however possess a flexible attitude, and commitment to achieve excellence.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • BSC in Nursing
  • MSc degree level or willing to undertake
  • Non independent Nurse prescribing


Desirable

  • Specialist Post registration qualification in dermatology / tissue viability
  • Teaching and assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience including management and leadership experience.
  • Managing own caseload
  • Exposure to dermatology / tissue viability knowledge and skills


Desirable

  • Research involvement
  • Wound management experience
  • Teaching experience


Skills

Essential

  • Effective Communication with patients , carers and members of multi-disciplinary team
  • Autonomous practice able to prioritise and be adaptable

  • Clinical/Professional knowledge gained through post-registration Degree and experience
