With a high volume and fast turnover of patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic day case investigations and procedures, a years secondment on the Nurse led day ward could be the challenge you are looking for. We are open Monday to Friday, 06:45-20:00.

The nursing team:

Prepare patients for their procedures

Perform venepuncture and 12 lead ECGs

Facilitates an enhanced recovery and nurse led discharge

Manage discharge lounge to facilitate safe discharge across the hospital

This is a time pressured environment, where you must be a team player, well organised, and able to deal with ever changing priorities. All our staff are expected to be able to effectively multitask and ensure all infection control risks are managed effectively. Patients experience is optimised on the ward through good communication and team working.

Main duties of the job

The elective Day ward strive to admit ambulatory patients, prepare for procedure, recover, and discharge as a day case. Basic skills required are:

Recognise and respond to a deteriorating patient.

Cannulation

Venepuncture

Perform 12 lead ECGs

TR band management

Nurse-led discharge

Day ward works collaboratively with all specialities across the Trust, and is the perfect place to develop new skills, and continue to develop professionally.
