An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time senior Occupational Therapist to join an established dynamic Occupational Therapy team working on ward 4, male acute ward at the Becklin Centre. This is to provide maternity cover and is a temporary contract. You will be working alongside a band 5 occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant and an activity coordinator to deliver person-centred assessments, interventions and meaningful activities to the 22 males on the ward.

You will be supported in your personal and professional development via clinical supervision, training and other Continuing Professional Development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The ward offers assessment and treatment to men aged 18 and over with complex mental health presentations. The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and discharge planning they will utilise the Model of Human Occupation framework to inform the overall assessment and recovery of those within the service, as well as contributing towards on-going service development within the Occupational Therapy team. It is essential that the post holder has experience of working in an acute mental health setting.

Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for overseeing the OT provision to ward 4, ensuring that staff feel supported to complete assessments in a timely manner, facilitate discharge and support recovery for the patients. You will offer management supervision to the team and encourage development of the band 5 OT. You will take a lead on the complex cases on the ward and hold a caseload. You will be supported by the ward manager and the practice development OT.
