This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of �2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

We have an exciting opportunity in Offender Health for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist ( 0.40 WTE -part time 2 days per week) within a Prison based Democratic Therapeutic Community contextualised for intellectual/learning disabilities (TC+).

We are looking for a person who is passionate about understanding and supporting the needs of men in the TC+ and providing specialist OT input.

The post is based at HMP Gartree in Leicestershire.

You will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of both Nottinghamshire healthcare clinicians and HMPPS specialist officers and group facilitators. You will work within the ethos of Therapeutic Communities principles and therefore uphold and contribute to all Therapeutic Community processes.

You will support the TC+ to provide OT assessments, diagnosis (where appropriate) treatment and support to men with Mild to Moderate Intellectual/Learning Disability within the unit.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist occupational therapy support to prisoners with Mild to Moderate Learning Disability, including the provision of skills and activity groups with an emphasis on requirements for resettlement and re-integration back into the community.

You will help evaluate resident progress against set targets aimed at reducing risk, psychological distress and enhancing skills by supporting residents to become as independent as possible and maintain or improve their level of function, ensuring that specialist assessments and evaluation reports are completed as required.

You will work as part of the TC+ multi-disciplinary team including representing TC+ at meetings as agreed amongst the TC+ team.

You will be fully supported to develop your specialist skills with relevant training provided and may be asked to represent Notts Health care and Learning-disabled men in prison, at conferences and National Events and NHSE forums. There will also be opportunity for you to showcase the service and offer relevant training/educational sessions to other members of the MDT and across the TC+ network.
