This role is part of a team with the Clinical Director and Operational Director providing clinical and operational leadership to the Theatre Business Unit within the Division of Surgery, Transplant and Anaesthetics.

A key element of the role is setting the tone and modelling collective and compassionate leadership behaviours that build positive staff engagement and an inclusive culture to ensure that our patients experience the best and the safest care with us.

We are looking for a leader who can support teams across the Division to build their clinical capability and confidence. We are really interested, not just in your clinical excellence, but also your ability to be a visible, optimistic and compassionate leader who will develop staff by understanding their needs and aspirations.

Main duties of the job

You will lead the development of a shared vision and values for the service and promote a culture where all staff understand and are involved in and working towards the achievement of Trust and the Business Unit objectives.

You will provide strategic vision and leadership and liaise with the departmental managers, senior nursing staff, AHPs and consultant medical staff to coordinate strategic development and transformational projects.The post holder will be responsible for the overall operational management and leadership of the Theatres Business Unit whilst ensuring the delivery of high quality, clinically effective patient focussed services throughout the theatre complex.

The Theatre Manager will work in collaboration with the divisional quadrumvirate, Operations Director, Clinical Directors and Head of Nursing, in the achievement of quality, workforce planning, staff engagement & development to deliver access and activity & financial targets.

  • Good analytical reasoning (verbal and numerical) and sound financial management skills
