UHB is looking for a compassionate, bold and connected leader to join our forward thinking inter-disciplinary Therapy Directorate

If you are a registered Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with a passion for delivering a highly efficient and effective Therapy service, this would be an ideal opportunity for you. We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational SLT who has a proven record of expert clinical skills, clinical leadership, operational management and service development.

You will have excellent inter-personal and communication skills that allow you to inspire, engage and empower staff. You will work clinically whilst providing high level leadership and management skills. You will have a passion to deliver and enable teams to provide high quality patient centred care and will work alongside divisional colleagues to optimise patient pathways. The successful applicant will be based at QEHB, be the professional lead for Speech and Language Therapy on the QEHB site and be an expert practitioner in one or more of the clinical areas delivered at QEHB.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to provide vision, strategic direction and professional leadership for the Speech and Language Therapy Service at QEHB. They will be able to work autonomously and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best patient outcomes and provide strong leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers clinicians to deliver the best for patients. The post holder will monitor and improve standards of care and play an active role in teaching and supporting own professional colleagues and the multi-professional team.

The post holder will have clinical expertise in a speciality within QEHB and have experience within an acute setting with knowledge of their evidence base. You will have opportunities to develop through leadership masterclasses and there will be investment in you as a leader to maximise your potential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Clinical qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Current professional registration with HCPC
  • Masters degree or equivalent in a health related subject or comparable level of experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development


Experience

Essential

  • Significant management and leadership experience within a complex acute healthcare environment, specific to the relevant clinical pathway/area expertise required.
  • Extensive expert clinical experience in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Significant experience working as part of a multi professional clinical team
  • Able to demonstrate experience of patient and public engagement and act as a lead for complaint management
  • Able to demonstrate experience of operational management knowledge and skills
  • Track record of delivering services with national and local targets and lead on clinical governance for a specific specialty or site
  • Managing programmes of organisational change that have led to tangible improvements
  • Multi-disciplinary team leadership
  • Demonstrates excellent clinical service provision relevant to post and commensurate with grade
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the NHS and interdisciplinary working
