We are looking to appoint an experienced and efficient individual to coordinate and manage a portfolio of clinical research studies, ensuring that studies are run to the highest standards incorporating GCP Guidelines. You will lead and manage clinical research nurses and will oversee and manage the clinical activity within the CRN Core Teams at CUH. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to broaden their leadership and management skills in a high-profile role.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder is responsible for the management and delivery of clinical research for the CRN East of England Cross Divisional Research Nurse Teams
  • Provide nurse leadership and professional advice to nursing staff within speciality/clinical division including line management and supervision to Band 6 nurses and other members of the teams as required.
  • In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, facilitate good quality research, lead and develop the research nurse teams and monitor standards of care.
  • To continuously performance manage studies and monitor the teams capacity to support research.
  • To promote the profile and work of the CRN teams across the biomedical campus and the region.
  • Ensuring that it research is conducted according to ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines and department safeguards for the well- being of patient/study participants.
  • Responsible for providing specialist advice, support to, and liaising with other staff. This includes the provision of specialist research related education and training,
  • Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to research delivery within the clinical setting.
  • Involvement with the wider research community across the biomedical campus.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC/HCPC/NIHR RCP Registered Degree level and educated in a health related subject Evidence of continuous professional development.


Desirable

  • Research Module. Masters Degree Teaching qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Significant relevant experience in the Clinical Research Environment and ability to demonstrate expert nursing skills. Post registration experience in a variety of acute NHS settings Accept personal accountability for own practice.


Desirable

  • Experience of formal/informal teaching. Experience of leading/managing a team including appraisal and performance management


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of evidence-based practice. Detailed understanding of Clinical Governance. In depth knowledge of clinical research infrastructure in the UK and relevant Research Governance legislation & regulations Understanding of the requirements of Good Clinical Practice & possession of GCP Certificate Extensive knowledge of the role of the clinical research nurse and principles of informed consent for participation in research Knowledge of health research methodology


Desirable

  • Knowledge of HR procedures and experience in performance management.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to facilitate collaborative working relationships across professional disciplines and external agencies Capable of working as an integral member of a team.
