Main duties of the job

You will need the following attributes:
  • Be a UK Registered Nurse (or awaiting registration if newly qualified)
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills

About us

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UKs leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge.

It performs the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UKs first successful heart transplant in 1979. It also offers emergency heart attack treatment, sleep centre care and is one of just five centres nationally for those in severe respiratory failure. Based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe the Trust is at the heart of treatments of the future.

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to problem solve, use own initiative, plan, organise and prioritise workload
  • Proven communication skills, written and oral.
  • Able to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients and their relatives.
  • Have good IT skills and be motivated to learn and use specialist applications and technologies.


Desirable

  • Able to induct/orientate new staff to the clinical area and identify key learning needs of less experienced staff


Qualifications

Essential

  • Current registration with NMC, part one or two of the register
  • Diploma, BSc or MSc in Nursing


Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Degree in Nursing
  • Teaching and assessor qualification

Experience

Essential

  • At least 6 months clinical experience in an acute setting within last 2 years
