Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time (10 PAs) Consultant in West CMHT, Leeds.This post is community based.
The post holder will work with the team to develop a therapeutic and holistic model based on psychological formulation, safety planning, risk management and trauma informed care that can then facilitate community based treatment and minimise hospital admission. The postholder will provide expert advice and consultancy, supported by the MDT, which will positively influence change in the current system of CMHT with a positive impact on hospital admission and home based treatment.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work with the community team, in liaison with the inpatient and intensive support service when applicable, to facilitate effective and therapeutic transitions and discharge plans back into the community. There is no inpatient work.
Duties will be in line with those of a Consultant Psychiatrist in a community setting. The post holder will be responsible, alongside the MDT for assessment and management of referrals accepted by the CMHT of those with mood and psychotic disorders, trauma based presentations and personality disorder. Given the nature of the work, there will be responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act (CTOs) including representation at tribunal hearings and assessing consent to treatment.
There will be a requirement for significant liaison with colleagues to facilitate transitions, planning care and discharge.

Job responsibilities
To work closely with the Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and service development.
To work with clinical colleagues and service managers to provide medical expertise. This will include providing assessment, diagnosis, formulation and prescribing for all outpatients.
To work jointly with colleagues from other disciplines and all relevant agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to patient care and treatment. LYPFT supports New Ways of Working in Mental Health and the appointee will have a remit to contribute to multidisciplinary working in this context. All referrals are discussed and allocated at the MDT meeting.
To participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit and risk management to continuously improve the quality of care provided for service users.
To participate in continuing professional development, appraisal and revalidation processes
To contribute to team training and the education of any undergraduates or junior medical staff attached to the team.
