Band 6 Physiotherapist - Respiratory Medicine / Clinical Decision Unit
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative physiotherapist with proven experience of working in the field of respiratory medicine at a senior level.
Applicants must demonstrate specialist knowledge including assessment of acutely unwell respiratory patients including the use of non- invasive ventilation. Experience in admission avoidance and discharge planning is essential. Some evidence of managerial skills is desirable, as well as a commitment to developing clinical leadership skills and experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting clinical excellence and evidence-based practice through their clinical work and as part of the departmental in-service training programme. Excellent leadership, communication, team working and organisational skills are essential. Evidence of service evaluation, audit and research is required.
Main duties of the job
You will be working alongside an established team of Physiotherapists to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated department.
You will demonstrate effective communication, prioritisation and organisational skills within a large multidisciplinary team, whilst being responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge or transfer of care.
You will receive regular supervision and appraisal and will actively be involved in service development, audit, research and evidence based practice.

- Be responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge/transfer of care, in order to facilitate a timely and safe discharge from hospital.
- Plan, deliver and progress treatment interventions using clinical reasoning and decision making skills in order to work towards and achieve identified patient goals.
- To facilitate annual appraisal and personal development planning for relevant members of the Physiotherapy Team.
- To participate in the induction of Physiotherapy Staff
- To assist in the maintenance of stock levels and care of equipment
- To assist in the ordering, maintenance and distribution of stock, stock records and care of equipment under guidance from senior colleagues e.g. splinting and wheelchair equipment.
