Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU's) across West Park Hospital and Roseberry Park Hospital are seeking individuals who have an interest in working with patients in our service. Bedale and Cedar ward are 10 bedded PICU's.

This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

Main duties of the job

Attendance at daily MDT report outs and discussions that aid the holistic approach to our care and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient. Taking and receiving handovers and engaging in daily safety review discussions with the nursing team. To allocate tasks to the team, appropriate to their skill level and experience. Contact and engagements with families/carers and liaising with external services. Administration of medication. Risk management in the least restrictive manner and providing a positive approach to managing complex behaviours and involvement with the development of care plans and behaviour support plans.

We will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encourage your development and role within this evolving service on the delivery of Patient Centred Care, support for carers and evidence based practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RNMH or RLDN current professional registration with NMC.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.


Experience

Essential

  • Working with people with mental ill health.


Desirable

  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation


Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.


Skills

Essential

  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Motivate and work positively and assertively with other members of the team.
