Job summary
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are looking for highly motivated qualified and newly qualified staff nurses to join our Gastroenterology ward (17) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The ward is a 24 mixed bedded unit that provides care for patients with Gastroenterology and General Medical conditions.
You will be joining a dedicated and enthusiastic nursing team who will help and support you whether you are starting out in your career or have years of experience under your belt.
Everyday within this role is different and offers the opportunity to deal with a variety of patient needs.

- Good communication skills, ability to speak and write clearly in English
- Computer literate able to complete assessments and discharge letters etc
- Knowledge of up to date nursing issues
- Extended role skills needed for work area Eg (not exhaustive list) Male catheterisation Passing NG tubes Cannulation ECG PICC lines Hickman Lines Managing tracheotomies

- Competency in IV drug administration. Infusion pump skills
Experience

- Newly qualified RGN
- Experience of teaching students, HCA's and qualified staff
- Ability to work within a team and independently on own initiative
- Able to co ordinate and manage team in ward sisters absence
- Experience at holding unit bleep and managing HR issues in absence of head nurse/sister
Desirable
- Previous experience as shift/team leader
- Previous experience in medical or gastroenterology
