Job summary
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has preferred provider status to manage the AAA screening programme across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills and is an effective team player.
The screening office is located at Montagu Hospital and your role will be to rotate through clinics, based throughout South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, providing support to men aged 65 and over. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking nurse, with excellent communication skills to join our friendly and dynamic team at the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw AAA screening programme.
An RGN who is committed to high quality care, you will participate in community-based clinics, undertaking surveillance and providing advice and support for men with screen detected Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA's).
Main duties of the job
To provide evidence-based information, cardiovascular risk factor management advice and support to patients with screen detected Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) as part of the national AAA screening pathway.
To offer advice and support to families and their carers, referring to support services such as smoking cessation. Monitoring and accurately recording outcomes.
Act as an autonomous practitioner by working unsupervised using your own initiative.

Job responsibilities
Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2015). Ensure the nursing activities within the AAA Screening Service reach the required professional standard. Contribute to the AAA Screening Teams education / training / skill mix.
Complete comprehensive patient health needs assessments in order to plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of care, including analysis, interpretation and comparison of options available to meet identified need.
Maintain appropriate professional, accurate, and confidential records of patients for evaluation, follow-up purposes and maintenance of quality care.
Implement appropriate administrative systems for effective service provision including protocols for appointments and follow up contact.
Provide appropriate advice to healthcare professionals, colleagues and members of the public on subjects related to AAA and cardiovascular risk factor management.
