Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist within the Acute Therapies team at Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking Physiotherapist with a special interest in Acute Therapies and complex discharge planning, who has excellent therapeutic skills and a sound knowledge of treating medical patients.

You will need to have substantial, previous experience as a Band 6 or Band 7 Physiotherapist, confident in treating complex medical patients (including respiratory patients), be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and experience of working in a relevant clinical field.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join the CHFT therapies team and work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues to provide assessment and treatment of medical patients. They will play in a leading therapy role in the implementation of Reason to Reside and will be provided with the opportunity to complete the CHFT Leadership Programme.

About us

You will work in a supportive team with other experienced clinical leads in a range of specialities and will also have the guidance and support of team leads as well as the inpatient therapy service manager. We support student training at CHFT and have excellent links with university collegaues. CHFT is situated in West Yorshire and has excellent transport links to Manchester and Leeds so is in an idea location along the M62 corridor.

Job responsibilities

To act as the Clinical Lead for the Acute Therapies Service with a specific responsibility for leadership and delivery of therapy within the Acute Medical setting. This role will provide support to a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Assistants. A key part of the role involves advancing clinical practice within an acute setting and taking a lead in evolving and embedding best practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant Degree/Diploma
  • Registered with HPC
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate training
  • Clinical Educator training


Desirable

  • Member of Professional Body
  • Study to Masters level or equivalent
  • Leadership training


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of training other staff in Acute Medical/Orthopaedic skills
  • Recent experience at Band 6 or above, in assessing, treating and evaluating care within the Acute Medical and Orthopaedic specialisms including those with respiratory conditions.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations e.g. dealing with complaints
  • Experience developing staff e.g. supervision, PDR's
  • Proven ability to case manage clients with complex needs
  • Ability to identify own learning needs and engage in self-directed learning for CPD
  • Ability to identify learning needs of others


Desirable

  • Experience in planning, allocating and delegating tasks


Special Knowledge/ Expertise

  • Recent experience of working within Acute Medicine and Orthopaedics
  • Experience of liaison with other professionals and multi-agency partnership working
  • Evidence of relevant training and maintenance of best practise
