Job summary

The Royal Marsden has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Digital Learning Manager to join our vibrant Learning and Development Team.

The ideal candidate will be expected to lead on system and processes development to make the best use of our existing Learning Management Systems (LMS) platform and make recommendations for future enhancements.

The successful candidate will enhance the Trust's Digital Learning agenda and develop and implement a strategic approach to technology-enhanced learning. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of learning resources for web, multi-media and mobile environments and new models/modes of course delivery e.g., podcasts; webinars; Vlogs and virtual reality. They will lead specific learning and development projects and oversee projects completed by the digital learning team members. The successful candidate will lead a small but committed team of digital learning specialists and work within a wider, award-winning learning and development team.

  • Identify and lead initiatives to optimise the use of e-learning as part of Trust's education
  • Design and deliver e-learning modules using a range of authoring tools, including Storyline, Camtasia and H5P authoring tools.
  • Provide technical expertise in the design and delivery of e-learning, working closely with a range of stakeholders.
  • Provide advice to the learning and development team, education leads and subject matter experts in relation to optimising e-learning
  • Maintain and develop the 'look and feel' of the Learning Hub to maximise user experience.
  • Build internal capacity and capability to deliver blending learning solutions for services across the Trust, including webinars and online resources.
  • Investigate ways to build blending learning options including webinars and online resources.
  • Carry out reviews on e-learning content held on the Learning Hub to maintain quality and enhance user experience.
  • Line manage the performance of digital education team members and provide feedback to them through regular meetings, coaching and annual appraisals.
  • Lead the team with a hands-on approach to create engaging digital learning solutions that improve individual, team and organisational performance.
  • Support the development of the individual members of the digital education team.
  • Manage and record annual leave, sickness, and other absences.
  • Recruit members to the team as required.
  • Manage the effective implementation and ongoing delivery of the Trusts digital education strategy in conjunction with Head of Apprenticeship and Learning Systems
  • Be accountable for the overall relationship and management of The Trusts LMS and content providers
  • Lead on the systems management and administration of the LMS (The Learning Hub) and other digital platforms/services, handling issues such as user account management, general configuration tasks, upgrades and technical developments
  • Manage various administrative processes relating to content management and responding to technical enquiries from staff, managers and senior leaders.
  • Manage the relationship with our e-learning and digital platform service providers.
  • Implement and promote new digital and e-learning services to further enhance the staff experience
  • Being agile and responsive to the changing needs of the Trust and colleagues
  • Has a robust communication strategy with all key stake holders.
  • Stay ahead of emerging learning technologies and identifies those which can be used within the Trust to improve Learning Choices.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of completion of training in elearning design and use of a range of rapid authoring tools


Desirable

  • Qualification in education, training or learning and development


Experience

Essential

  • Designing, planning and implementing technology-based training
  • Identifying learning needs for individuals or groups
  • Providing advice to subject matter experts and professional/ educational leads about eLearning
  • Working with computerised information systems and analysing management information
  • Working with Moodle
  • Track record of providing outstanding customer care


Desirable

  • Evaluating learning outcomes
