For the Trust, our EPR is much more than a digital version of written notes. It will bring about a transformation to the way we provide care to patients and we're looking for energetic, forward-thinkers to join the team.

We are seeking to appoint an Information Governance Lead.

You will be required to assist the EPR Programme Manager and the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer (DPO) in the effective delivery of the Information Governance (IG) service for the EPR Programme and across both Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. You will have experience of working in an information governance specialist role applying expert working knowledge of related subjects.

You will have advanced analytical and interpretation skills and be able to use your persuasion and negotiating / motivational skills to command the confidence of managers and clinicians and to build relationships at all levels.

To be successful you will need to have excellent working knowledge of the Data Protection Act / GDPR and their application in practice excellent understanding of the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit and agenda.

Main duties of the job

To provide advice and guidance in all areas of Information Governance, ensuring that this knowledge is kept up to date and changes in legislation or national and local policies are communicated effectively to staff at all levels within the organisation.

Support the review of Information Governance and record management strategy and policies across both Trusts, aligning ethical and technical IG requirements, and producing supporting documentation which is easily usable for staff, visitors and patients - where needed.

To provide support in the development and implementation of the Information Governance Code of Practice across both Trusts.

Audit and analyse organisational capabilities with regard to Information Governance, including supporting completion and submission of the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) assessment.

To support the development and implementation of the Information Governance Plans to meet legislative and internal requirements, the output of the DSPT and national / local policies in the following areas:
  • GDPR and Data Protection Act
  • Caldicott principles: use, communication and protection of patient identifiable information
  • Information Quality Assurance
  • Information Security
  • Confidentiality, particularly the NHS code of conduct

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level education, or able to demonstrate considerable experience in IG
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of further study/knowledge at Masters level or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • ISEB Certificate in Data Protection
  • ISEB Certificate in Risk Management
  • ISEB Freedom of Information
  • Prince 2 Practitioner


Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Data Protection Act / GDPR and their application in practice
  • Knowledge of ICO codes of practice in relation to information rights and good practice
  • Excellent understanding of the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit and agenda
  • Knowledge of information risk management
  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff


Desirable

  • Knowledge of information systems within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of PRINCE2 methodology
  • Knowledge of CQC outcomes and key lines of enquiry
  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (2000) and Environmental Information Regulations (2004)

  • Experience of working in an IG specialist post applying expert working knowledge of related subjects

  • Able to demonstrate successful leadership / management experience
