Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Hand Therapist to support our hand therapy team, alongside our Highly Specialist Hand Therapists. We provide a service to both trauma and elective surgery working closely alongside three Hand and Upper Limb Surgeons, other consultants in fracture clinic and Physiotherapy ESP colleagues. The team also support the in-patient teams in splinting and fracture bracing.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced therapist with a knowledge of soft tissue injuries and fracture management to join our well respected and busy out-patient team. BAHT level 1 or equivalent preferred. We have a weekly hand therapy team meetings and in-service training.

Job responsibilities
The Advanced specialist Therapist will spend a high proportion of the week working with Hand Therapy patients. Provides a specialist Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy service within a Multi-disciplinary team for in and out patients at the Royal Surrey with regard to the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and psychosocial aspects of their care.
Leads and develops the hand therapy service within Occupational Therapy, delivering highly specialised assessment and intervention. Carries a caseload of patients with a mixture of complex and routine splinting needs, whilst managing own appointment diary. Co-ordinates and supervises therapists with differing levels of skills and knowledge within orthopaedic splinting speciality. Responsible for the continuous service development of the speciality ensuring that the team knowledge base is current and evidence based.

Essential
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy by recognised awarding body Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
- Educated to masters level/ degree level/NVQ/ Certificate OR equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level/supervisor/ in specialist area.
- Satisfies the criteria for full Membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- BAHT level 2 or equivalent.
Desirable
- State Registered Occupational Therapist
- Further qualifications / study.
- An approved supervisor for degree students
