An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of well-established community and crisis teams in South West Surrey.

The post offers a diverse range of experience working with people with complex mental health difficulties. You will join a friendly and supportive group of psychologists in the locality and there will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills through CPD. The trust has an enviable care pathways system which values psychology, psychotherapy and the arts psychotherapies and there are opportunities to train in DBT, CBT for psychosis, family interventions, CBT for personality disorders and structured clinical management as well as coaching opportunities.

As a Trust we pride our-selves on our innovative and collaborative approach to providing the highest quality, person-centered care. As an early implementer site for new models of care, we have a comprehensive primary care personality disorder services as well as established primary care MH teams working alongside GP practices. We are currently developing integrated care pathways across primary and secondary care.

The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of this role.

Main duties of the job

The post is split across CMHRS, where the postholder will offer 1:1 and group therapy to service-users with severe and enduring mental health problems, as well as consultation to other members of the MDT. The postholder will supervise more junior psychologists and offer group supervision to team members offering low intensity psychological interventions.

The crisis and home treatment team element of the postwill support the team to adopt a psychological approach. You will participate in individual assessment and formulation of patients' needs, including a wide range of clinical presentations. You will complete brief psychological interventions with service users on a caseload shared across the team, and work indirectly to provide advice and consultation to the multi-disciplinary team, e.g., contributing a psychological perspective to care planning and guiding treatment plans at review meetings. You will be involved in promoting wellbeing within the multi-disciplinary team, including providing supervision You will be key in developing shaping, plan, oversee psychologically informed interventions within the crisis team. There will be opportunities to provide training and contribute to service development.

To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students,

Promoting a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with other colleagues.

Work collaboratively with team managers/ Clinical leads in the development and delivering of effective services.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualifications required
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees (or
  • completion within 12 months of commencement in post


Experience

Essential

  • Experience required
  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues
  • and cognitive profiles.
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and
  • individual therapeutic
  • Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care
  • group.
  • Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development / project work.
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists
  • Demonstrable interest/skill in a relevant specialist area.
  • For roles in Learning Disabilities candidates should demonstrate experience of working with
  • people with learning disabilities within a positive behaviour support framework
