Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic Service Manager for our Endoscopy Department. The department is going through an exciting period of development as we look to move into our new purpose built Digestive Disease Centre located at the Castle Hill site so there has never been a better time to join the department.

To succeed you must have excellent communication skills and a flexible, innovative and proactive approach to delivering a first class service. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Lead and report directly to the Business Manager. You will be responsible for managing a large administrative team of Senior Waiting List Clerks who are responsible for booking and scheduling HUTH's endoscopy activity across both HRI and CHH. As well as this, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the service's performance against NHS Constitution targets and COVID recovery deadlines.

Main duties of the job

What we're looking for:
  • Someone with a Degree level or equivalent professional qualification (or relevant experience)
  • Demonstrable experience in staff management, including the management of a large administrative staff base.
  • Experienced natural leader who is also a team player. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, support and develop employees.
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure and to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Knowledge of managing complex rotas, backfilling sessions and liaising with clinicians to maximise our output.
  • Desirable knowledge of endoscopy scheduling systems and/or Lorenzo.

The Trust's secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

HUTH provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.
